The first Biggest Recess at your office

Date and time: Friday 28 October (any time suitable for your office)

This exciting new initiative will be held during Children's Week at ‘recess’ on Friday 28 October and aims to encourage adults to model good behaviours for children and young people to lead to better health outcomes. We would like to encourage your team / organisation to participate in the Biggest Recess. The campaign is an easy way to have a bit of fun and learn more about how we can be healthy role models to the children in our communities.

The Advocate for Children and Young People's Children's Week Event

Date and time: Thursday 27 October at 11.00am to 12.00pm
Location: The Jubilee Room, NSW Parliament House, Macquarie Street, Sydney

At this event the Advocate will:

  • Announce the Real NSW photo competition winners
  • Introduce a short cultural change video titled Seen and Heard
  • Invite you to experience augmented reality technology

Grand opening child-friendly café, with baby/kids classes during the week and parties on the weekend. Our grand opening is going to be on Saturday 22 October and to tie into National Children's Week. This event will showcase some of the many talent's that young people possess. Local schools and childcare centres will perform on the day.


NSW Family Day Care Association membership raffle

The prize is a Professional Development Training session that focuses on educators to benefit children. Finding Frank Puppet Show (3-5yrs)

Finding Frank is a puppet show. Frank the flamingo is one grumpy bird with one massive problem…he hates being pink! Frank embarks on a journey to change the colour of his feathers and finds some friends. The more he changes, the happier he becomes until his real identity is revealed and the ultimate lesson is learnt…that it does not matter what colour your skin is, what’s important is the person within.


Creative Garden Day for children

Kids’ Early Learning Blackett Children’s Week Dress Up & News Time

The children will come to the centre in dress-ups as they please based on last year’s well-favoured and much-enjoyed dress-ups week. To link in with this year’s theme about access to information, the 3-5’s children are encouraged to share during group time about a “research” they did on a topic or question of their interest. They will make use of available resources such as books, magazines, internet and others to gain some information about their topic/question. A family feedback form will be sent home as well.

The Child, Youth and Family Network of Orange has applied and been granted funding for Kids Own Publishing (NFP organisation) to deliver two days of "Publish Me!" Sessions: Making books with children and families using various handmade and digital techniques. Kids Own Publishing has significant expertise in delivering community based creative workshops, capacity building training and published outcomes aimed at supporting literacy development, reading and the status of children as storytellers, writers and illustrators.

The Berrigan Shire Council is staging its Annual Kids Fest during Children’s Week, culminating in Mud Run for Children aged 4 years to 12 years of age at the Finley Show Grounds. Four separate events will be staged in the towns of Barooga, Berrigan, Tocumwal and Finley.


Wagga Wagga Regional Family Day Care Open Day

We will Celebrate a child's right to be healthy, the Family Day Care service will plant and open children's vegetable garden. The garden beds will be painted in conjunction with children and local artist Luke Vineburg. The children will create a scare crow for the garden. A variety of experiences and activities incorporating Munch & Move principles.

Our service provides counselling to children and their families impacted by family separation, trauma and abuse and disadvantage. We are committed to advocating for the rights of children and value the importance of promoting and celebrating this at events such as Children’s Week.
We will have a centre-based gathering of our clients for 2 hours in the afternoon during the event week where we will provide promotional material about Children's Week and the rights of children, have a communal art canvas project, colouring in station, goodie bags. There will be no cost to the clients.
