The theme for Children’s Week this year is Article 12 of The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child: 'Children's views and opinions are respected. They have the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child and the right to be heard'.
The awards are designed to recognise the achievements and contributions of children and young people as well as the adults who make positive impacts on the lives of children and young people.
Both the 2017 NSW Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and the 2018 YAC put forward the categories for this year. There are seven award categories specific to children and young people and two award categories specific to adults.
Children, young people and adults can nominate an inspiring individual, group, service or project that falls within the below award categories.
(Nominees must be children and young people under the age of 18)
(Nominees must be adults over the age of 18)
A winner will be chosen for each award category (9 winners in total) and they will receive an award and GoPro camera.
The award winners will receive their award and prize at a special award ceremony event which will celebrate their achievements. Awards and prizes will be presented by the NSW Advocate for Children and Young People and members of the NSW Children’s Week Committee.
Note: Award winners will be notified in mid October and details for the award ceremony will be provided.
